Narrative Director (Lead writer), REMOTE


Your Future role

Your responsibilities:

  • Champion and create creative direction, narrative targets, and inspiration for all aspects of worldbuilding and narrative design across multiple settings for digital games
  • You will forge all creative aspects of a project into a unified experience
  • Lead a full spectrum of and writers, across multiple experience levels
  • Commission of the story: identify freelance writers (and potentially illustrators) and studio partners alike, guide them, and partner closely with our game teams
  • Lead brainstorming sessions on new concepts, worlds, and characters and follow up with plans to make them come alive
  • Provide high-level vision and guidance, iterative reviews, and promote the projects and team
  • Build a content strategy and roadmap for deliverables, maintaining a clear line of communication and updates across all internal stakeholders to keep on track
  • This role is a mix of hands-on creation and leadership responsibilities

Desired Experience and Qualifications


  • Attention to detail, and excellent understanding of the building blocks of worldbuilding through narrative
  • Leadership experience that shows the ability to frame a vision, pitch to executives, and communicate ideas and expertise across teams and subject areas
  • Ability to demonstrate ownership over both conceptual worldbuilding and commissioned work, and to synthesize game mechanics, brand knowledge, and creative goals into the clear and concise direction
  • 4+ years of narrative direction and leadership; you've shipped one AAA title
